Tacoma Course

This is the course that we'll be taking - kind of a figure eight deal. We'll be passing around a nice park, our favorite neighborhood bar, and a chunk of a residential neighborhood. It's pretty much the same thing as last year, with one exciting twist: we're running it the other way this time.

Ghosts from pancake runs past...

As far as I know, these are the only photos that exist from the 2006 pancake run.

In the top picture, you can see what the back of my head looks like while I make pancakes.

Next, we see Andy B. eating toast. The pancakes weren't ready yet.

And finally, if we go back a few minutes before Andy ate his toast, we  would see Jana setting up the toaster.

If you have pictures of a past h5k and the pancakes you ate afterwards, send them my way and I'll post them here to serve as inspiration, which I am certain will work. I also recommend watching Rocky I through VI.

Welcome Back Runners and Pancake Enthusiasts!

One and All:  It's time to dust off the spatulas, lace up the running shoes, and get geared up for the Third Annual Hedlund 5K and Pancake fun run!
For those who have forgotten or are new to this event, the premise is simple: each participant can either create his or her own 5k route or team up with nearby runners who already have a course.
Since we're all living in different places, the idea is that we pick a date and time to start running. That way we're all doing it at the same time.
After the run, we all eat pancakes.
You can use google earth to highlight your route, send it to me, and I'll post it for people to see. You can also send pancake recipes, photos of your preparations, or pretty much anything if you want it posted.

This year the h5k will be held on Saturday, November 8th, around 10-ish.
I should also mention that running is only a suggestion. Last year team Jen, John, and Stella ran, but team Mark, Dave, and Kel biked for 26 miles (I don't know how many k's that is off the top of my head), team Mom and Dad walked, and team Poppy and Posy and John's Brain took a stroller. Your method of completing the 5k is up to you. You can ride in a wagon if you want to.

Good luck to all during your training, and I hope that this year's event goes as smoothly as last year's!
